Jacob is nominated by Lucas A. V. Møller, Co-creator and narrative designer at Gateway with the following motivation:
Jacob Hvid Amstrup is a jack of all trades and a master of several of them. When he first began to develop his debut-game, Inkslinger, in the beginning of 2020 with his two-person studio Gateway, Jacob was primarily a sound designer. But seeing as they were only a duo, Jacob also had to teach himself the visual, programming and game design skills needed to craft the experience that eventually led to Gateway receiving an Honorable Mention in the Excellence in Narrative category of 2021’s Independent Games Festival. Now, Jacob’s currently finding himself in the early-Beatles phase of his career. Because at Umami Games, Jacob gets to churn out a new game every few weeks, constantly honing his crafts and talents every day as Gateway have slowly started conceptualizing their next game, which bears the working-title After the Tone. Jacob is the kind of professional who gets good at whatever is asked of him. But, perhaps more importantly, he is a kind, funny and attentive coworker who knows how to give and receive feedback constructively.
