BEST DEBUT

The award for Best Debut aims to celebrate the new, ambitious talents - a new Danish team or individual - releasing a game for the first time and hereby making a debut into the Danish Games Industry. It must be the first released game project for the development studio under that specific development studio CVR/VAT no. and/or team name.

  • You or your team have an average of maximum 5 years of working within the Game Industry.

BEST VISUALS

The award for Best Visuals goes to the most coherent, expressive and all-out best visual design in a Danish game. Any type of visuals can submit in this category, regardless of the platform your game is released on.

BEST AUDIO

The award for Best Audio goes to the most coherent, expressive and all-out best audio experience in a Danish game. Any type of audio can submit in this category, regardless of the platform your game is released on.

BEST GAME DESIGN

The award for Best Game Design goes to the most coherent, expressive and all-out best game design in a Danish game. Any type of game design can submit in this category, regardless of the platform your game is released on.

BEST NARRATIVE

For excellence in the creation of a story or narrative that captivates and engages the player. Games that go beyond telling a story with words or voice acting are also qualified. Any type of story or narrative can submit in this category, regardless of the platform your game is released on.

BEST LIVE GAME

For an already live game that had the best new content updates of the year. A game that managed to evolve, engage, connect, retain, and excite new and existing players. New content updates can be new levels, missions, community events, DLC’s, but not new platforms, special editions, or patches.

The game must meet the following criteria:

  • Must have been released more than 12 months ago (using the same definition of release as when submitting in other categories)
  • Must have received significant updates in 2022.
    • Example #1: Qualified: The game was released in 2015 and still has an active player base today. In 2022 new levels and events were added to the game.
    • Example #2 Qualified: If the game was released on 1/8/2021 and had a major content update on 2/8/2022
    • Example #3: Not qualified: Released January 2022 and had a major Christmas update December 2022. (Released in the same year)
  • Qualified games include online games (both asynchronous and real-time), GaaS, free-to-play games, and other games that are being maintained with ongoing new content or features.
  • This category has an emphasis on providing value to players through maintaining and updating, so make sure to mention if any of your updates were particularly successful or noteworthy.

BEST EMERGENT EXPERIENCE

The games industry moves fast and evolves. If you're at the forefront of that then your game might not fit the traditional boxes. Something that’s trying out new waters, platforms, and formats.

The game must meet the following criteria:

  • Any game, playful product , or experimental game experience that has been released in 2022 can submit in this category.
  • The experience must have been publicly available, such as a store, online or museum.
  • The game must be available to review for the jury.
    • If the game experience requires special equipment, you must provide the right equipment to play the game at the Danish Producers’ Association.
    • If the game is no longer available to play, or requires additional setup or installation, we do accept a video that clearly demonstrates the design and ideas behind the game. Please include a full length recorded game experience.
  • Please note: Traditional PC, mobile apps and console titles are generally not considered emergent - however if the experience doesn’t fit any other categories and is doing something new, it is most likely qualified for this.

BEST KIDS GAME

For the game that really captures the magic of children's imagination and wonders primarily targeting kids 12 and under. We encourage games in this category to also submit in other categories too.

GAME OF THE YEAR

Simply the best Danish-produced game of the year. It is not possible to submit in this category. The Game of the year is chosen by the jury.
