The jury consists of qualified professionals from the Danish gaming industry and is appointed by the executive committee. For several weeks the jury plays the submitted games, shortlist the nominees and determine the winners through a series of discussions.
The final step of the jury process is the Jury Meeting where the jury meets to discuss the qualities of the shortlisted games, choose the nominees and eventually the winners of Spilprisens 9 different categories. In addition to this work, the jury also makes a pre-shortlist for Nordic Games Award.
In general, none of the jury members are allowed to have worked on or be involved in any way with the making of the games submitted to Spilprisen. The exception to this rule is the Best Live Game category. In this exception, the jury member will abstain from voting and will also leave the jury meeting when this category is addressed. However, the person may vote in all other categories.
